Consign Art with Sphere Gallery

Sphere Gallery works with people who wish to consign artwork they have purchased, inherited, or obtained.

We accept fine artwork which includes original paintings and drawings, and prints with limited editions (normally not more than an edition of 100).

Prints can include lithographs, serigraphs, engravings, etchings, woodcuts, linocuts, etc.).

We work with the consignor to determine if the artwork is a good fit for Sphere Gallery and to establish a price. Sphere Gallery will examine the submitted form and photographs of the artwork to determine a fair suggested price. We take a number of things into consideration when establishing pricing and this includes looking at auction results, current pricing at existing galleries, other comparable pieces of art, and so on. We will not be providing a formal appraisal, but rather an opinion as to the value of the art on the used market.

If the piece of art is determined to be a good fit for Sphere Gallery and a sales price is mutually agreed upon, the consignor will have the art delivered to the gallery. We will then photograph the art and publish it to our website and any other third-party sites that might be a good fit.

Our Terms and Conditions are:

    • Sphere Gallery’s commission rate is 50% on most artwork.
    • If the piece of art needs to be re-framed or framed, that expense will be paid by Sphere but the consignor will not benefit from the additional price.
    • The artwork may be reduced 10-25% after 30 days and a further reduction after 2 months.
    • If the artwork is not sold after 365 days of the contract date and not retrieved from the consignor, it will become the property of Sphere Gallery and will be donated to a charity and/or sold at a clearance sales event (no commission will be paid to the consignor).
    • It is the responsibility of the consignor to contact Sphere Gallery during the consignment period and monitor the dates when the art may be discounted, and the final date at the end of the year when the artwork will be given away or sold at a clearance event.
    • Consignors are responsible for the delivery of the artwork to Sphere and also for the return of the artwork should it not sell.
    • Sphere Gallery has the right to photograph the artwork being consigned and retain the images for use in any gallery-related marketing or materials (i.e., website and social media features, and advertising or public relations).
    • Sphere Gallery, its employees or agents, shall not be liable for the loss or damage of any artwork consigned through Sphere Gallery while the personal property remains in the possession of Sphere Gallery. Sphere Gallery is also not liable for loss of consigned artwork due to shipping or due to fire, theft, natural disasters or any other unforeseen circumstances.
    • Sphere Gallery requires your full name and address, phone number(s), and email address. Sphere will not sell or share your information with any third party without your permission.
    • We reserve the right to change our consignment terms without notice.
    • The consignor may take back their merchandise with no charge after 30 days. If items are taken before 30 days, a 15% charge will be levied at the starting price of the item(s). A 24-hour notice is required for your artwork to be made ready for your pick up. Pick up in person must be arranged by appointment.
