The lovely bursts of watercolour on wet paper create a beautiful ground for the faces drawn overtop. During this period, Putov began experimenting with watercolour and produced thousands of drawings. It's likely that his process involved creating the colourful grounds, and out of the bleeding of the pigment into various shapes, he designed the drawings.
