    Marjorie Lusk Fortey (1912-1999)

    "Marjorie Lusk Fortey A.O.C.A was born in Breckenridge Quebec and received her early education in Aylmer and Ottawa. She attended the Ontario College of Art, Toronto for four year, graduating with honours and becoming an Associate of the College.

    Marjorie studied portraiture with Robert Hyndman and at the Doon School of fine Arts, and later with John Howard Sanden, New York City. She also attended workshops and seminars in Ottawa, Toronto, New York and Palm Beach.

    Besides her watercolours and portraits in oil, she works with other media and does sculpturing [sic].

    Marjorie taught painting privately; and sketched extensively in England, the Continent, Canada and the United States.

    She has received purchase awards from the Canadian Society of Painters in Water-colours, Toronto; Le Comité Cultural de L'Outaouias Inc., as well as awards from other Art Exhibitions.

    She has participated in many solo and group exhibitions. Her pictures and in the Canadian Art Collection of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Toronto; and in corporate and private collections here and abroad.

    The artist is a founding member of the Aylmer Arts Council; a Fellow of the Ottawa Society of Painters in Water-colours and a member of the Portrait Club of New York."
